Call for Executive Board Members of European Youth Press

Are you passionate about youth media and eager to shape the future of a prominent European organization? The European Youth Press (EYP) is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated young media professionals to join its Executive Board for a voluntary two-year mandate. About the Role

The European Youth Press is an umbrella organization that represents a diverse network of young media makers from across the continent. As a member of the Executive Board, you will help shape the direction of the organization, make key decisions, and collaborate with other board members to implement strategic initiatives.

  • Term: Voluntary two-year mandate.
  • Location: Meetings and events will take place in various European countries. Elections will be held at the General Assembly on 9 & 10 November 2024 in Brussels, Belgium. If you're not attending the General Assembly in another capacity, you may attend part of the event virtually.

Responsibilities

As an Executive Board Member, you will:

  • Participate in making and implementing major organizational decisions.
  • Supervise tasks and support EYP’s strategic development.
  • Step in as project coordinators for some of the main projects of EYP.
  • Work closely with fellow board members and Member Organizations to represent the interests of young media makers.

This role will require strong leadership and communication skills, along with a commitment to the mission and values of European Youth Press.

Eligibility and Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Executive Board role should meet the following mandatory qualifications:

  • Familiarity with EYP: You should be well-versed in the structure and functions of the European Youth Press.
  • Media/Journalism Background: Candidates should have a background in media or journalism, either through content production or training.
  • English Proficiency: A good or very good command of English is necessary, as it is the working language of the organization.
  • Travel Commitment: Board members are expected to travel regularly to different European countries for board meetings, conferences, and trainings. These typically occur on weekends.
  • Time Dedication: You should be able to dedicate at least 10 working hours per week to EYP-related tasks (excluding board meetings).
  • International Collaboration: A keen interest in working in a multicultural and international environment is essential.

Desired Qualifications include:

  • Previous experience with EYP-related projects or partnerships.
  • Experience working with EYP’s Member Organizations.
  • Experience in multicultural and multilingual teams.

Age Limit

Please note that Executive Board Members must be under 30 years and 8 months at the time of their appointment.

Election Process

The elections for the Executive Board will take place during the General Assembly in Brussels on 9 & 10 November 2024. The results will be communicated at the General Assembly and shared via email.
