CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

European Youth Press (EYP) is seeking a Financial and Administrative Officer to join our team on a part-time basis, starting February 2025. This paid position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the work of a dynamic, youth-led network that supports and empowers young media makers across Europe.

European Youth Press (EYP) is a network of youth media organizations dedicated to building a society where empowered young media makers actively participate in and contribute to the public sphere. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, we promote media literacy, independent journalism, and a sustainable future. With 26 member organizations and more than 60,000 young journalists in our network, EYP creates a platform for cross-cultural understanding, cooperation, and professional growth.

Position Overview
As the Financial and Administrative Officer, you will oversee and manage the organization’s financial and administrative operations. This part-time position requires between 10 to 20 hours per month and is ideal for a working student, young professional, or someone seeking a “Minijob” arrangement. This role also offers plenty of opportunities to travel and experience Europe as part of EYP’s international activities.EYP is in the process of digitalizing all its processes to improve efficiency and transparency. Candidates with prior experience in digital transformations, particularly in NGOs, will bring additional value to this role.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Management:
    • Maintaining an overview of funds and financial flows within the organization.
    • Handling reimbursements, budget creation, and payments, including employee salaries.
    • Collaborating with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate accounting.
    • Preparing a balance sheet for the past financial year as one of your first tasks.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Managing communication with the notary and bookkeeper.
    • Overseeing compliance with the German tax and legal system.
    • Ensuring smooth administrative operations to support EYP’s projects and goals.

Qualifications
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with the following qualifications:

  • Previous experience in treasury or financial management.
  • Proficiency in English and German (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of the German tax system and legal framework.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in or understanding of digital transformations, especially in NGOs, is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Additional Information

  • Start Date: February 2025.
  • Contract Duration: Until December 2025, with the possibility of renewal.
  • Compensation: This is a paid position. The exact pay will be determined in consultation with the selected candidate.
  • Workload: 10–20 hours per month. This could also be structured as a “Minijob” under German regulations.
